I have been moaning lately about how we no longer see as many frogs in our garden as we used to when we first moved in. I’d been blaming global warming until the husb pointed out that when we first moved into this house we used to smoke (although our rule was to only smoke outside) so we used to spend a lot of time sitting outside just chatting quietly. Consequently, we used to see lots of our froggy pals. We gave up (smoking, not chatting) before we had children and started spending less time outside, especially in the cooler evenings. Nowadays, the time that we spend outside is quite a lot noisier than it used to be.
I was thrilled to see this little creature in our pond today (we were eating lunch outside so I suppose we were sitting fairly quietly). I was almost as pleased at how well this picture came out – I used zoom and macro and managed to keep the camera still enough!

I LOVE frogs.
I have dozens of pictures of ours in our wee pond.
It’s just passed their mating time, during which they would have been very visible.
Ducks are still my favourite though. You should do a duck pic!
(a pic of ours in ‘action’ and their ‘product’ can be found here http://xbox4nappyrash.blogspot.com/2008/03/mocked-by-nature.html )

It never ceases to amaze me when I see blogs with people who not only can write, they can take photographs too! If only I were so talented, I stink at both! =D

XBox, right, ducks it is then. You might have to wait a few days though – first I have to track some down.
Gawdess and Heather, thank you both for your kind comments. Heather, my head won’t fit through the door as it’s so big now!

Hurray! I’m glad he’s back. I hope you get to enjoy the outdoors more this summer.
