31/365 – Sitting Still

While we were in the West Country I managed to sneak half an hour to start reading a camera book that the husband has.  One of the things it said you should do to get a really sharp picture was to use a tripod and the shutter release delay button.  I was playing around with them when it occured to me that I could use the opportunity to try and get a picture of me and the girl together.  Once she cottoned on to what I was trying to do she refused to sit still but I like this one the best – it is the least staged of the pictures that I managed to get.

30/365 – Catching Up

I had a lovely, but too short, time with Angelfeet this morning, who I haven’t seen for a while.  My usually incredibly shy children warmed up to her quickly.  The girl because the lovely lady had bought puzzles which the girl loves.  The boy, taking after his father, went straight for the thing that looked a bit technical - in this case a pedometer.  She was happy to let him play for a short while and fortunately he didn’t reset it for her!

29/365 – Cranes & Cake

That’s sure to get a few crazies from Google!

I was walking along Regent Street today and I looked up and saw the cranes.  The sky was beautiful and blue, the cranes were modern and many, and the buildings were old (and I can’t think of another word beginning with “o” to describe buildings.  damn).  I liked what I saw (although admittedly I did crop out the street light).

It was cake decorating today and I made this.  I have to make several more flowers before next week to arrange on a plaque.  Do you hear that sound?  It’s the sound of my neck and shoulder muscles tightening in nervous anticipation – I don’t like flowers and I’m not very good at them.  That’s why I switched from the Tuesday flower course to the Thursday sugarpaste course.  Sigh.  By the way, the leaves were made using a ready veined cutter – now that’s my kind of cake decorating.

28/365 – What They Doing Mummy?

Was what my daughter said when she saw two big burly men in our playground messing with the toys.

A very good question, but I expect it has an innocent answer.  They’re either fixing the roundabout or we’re getting something new.  It was too wet to get out of the car to ask them, so I’ll have to stroll down there tomorrow (weather and chicken pox permitting) to have a look.

27/365 – Not That Poorly

Just in case any of you were thinking of feeling sorry for the boy, here’s a picture taken today of him trying to stuff an entire biscuit into his mouth in one go.

26/365 – Smoke On The Water

Well, technically speaking, steam on the fence, but that doesn’t sound so rock ‘n’ roll.  It also doesn’t look as impressive as it did this morning but I’ve tried to catch this on camera so often and this is the best I’ve managed so far.

I’ve got two more to bore you with so don’t go anywhere just yet!

Just before Christmas we thought the boy had chicken pox.  Apparently we were wrong.  Now, he’s definitely got chicken pox – I’ve even had it confirmed by a doctor (it was probably just a virus in December - why was I surprised to hear this?!).

And finally, the boy has started sitting next to the girl on the stairs (hopefully she’ll catch his chicken pox) while they wait for the bath to run (he wants to do what she does – it’s quite sweet to watch sometimes).  They’ve got new night lights that are rechargable and they can carry around (for those of you in the know, yes, they’re lumiloves).  She’s really taken with hers so of course, he is too.

25/365 – Nothing To Say

Well actually, there are many things I could say about this picture – what they were watching, why the girl was so tired (thank you LNFATR for a lovely afternoon), why the boy’s vest was hanging down.  I’m not going to though.  Instead, I give you…….

24/365 – Broken

We finally got a box big enough to fit both of them in and they still managed to break it in less than 10 minutes!  It was a very vigorous game of row, row, row your boat.

23/365 – Story Time

Bless the husband, doing his best to read them a story but they weren’t really paying attention.  And yes, I did take this picture nano-seconds before it all dissolved into tears and screaming because the boy tried to poke the girl in the eye.  Happy days!
