90/365 – Sick Of It

The boy was sick today.  Again.  Prodigiously.  All over LNFATRs lovely clean floor.  And me.

I’ve probably cleaned up more sick since I had children than I have during the rest of my life and I’d like it to stop now.  Please.

The girl had a stammer a little while ago (developmental, completely normal and nothing to worry about) which we thought had cleared but she seems to be having problems with it again.  I hate watching her struggle to communicate – even at 3 she’s an incredibly articulate young lady and is really at ease with language.  To see her frustrated by speech is horrible.

Even though I probably sound a bit fed up (sorry) I did manage to take a cheery picture today.  The girl worked out that she could make herself go upside down if she walked her feet up the wall – yippee, no more hanging precariously off mummy’s lap!

89/365 – Prince Charming

I think he’ll make someone a lovely husband one day.

88/365 – Things I Never Want To See Again

We had a bit of a day of it today with both children trying to break themselves.  The boy was sitting in a booster seat attached to a chair when he decided to push himself away from the table.  The end result being, of course, that all he actually achieved was to tip the chair backwards and whack his head on the floor.  As I was picking him up I heard a thud and the girl started crying.  I wasn’t watching so I don’t know exactly what happened but I’d say that when she fell off her chair (sigh) she whacked her head on the corner of the wall on the way down.  I didn’t think it was too bad until I picked her up (after handing the still sobbing boy over to his daddy) and saw the blood dripping from her head.  We headed over to A&E where we saw a triage nurse and then got sent to a Minor Injuries Unit (nearer to us and less time before we saw a doctor – thank you A&E nurse for the top tip).  She’s fine, no hair wash for a couple of days but otherwise fine.  Scared the living bloody daylights out of me though!

I never want to see this

again.  I expect I will though.

87/365 – Huggin’

We had lovely friends from Brighton over for lunch today. Their little girl will be 2 in just over a month’s time so she slots neatly in between the boy and the girl. They played really well, sometimes together, sometimes separately but mostly without any fights. I was proud of my two and it was lovely to see Brighton Girl (and her parents, of course).

The boy seems to be enjoying his hug although it wasn’t long before he got cuddled to the floor!

86/365 – Hot Hot Heat

I took the girl and the boy to the Science Museum in London today.  I’ve been before but never really been to the child friendly bits.  I can’t recommend it highly enough.  There was so much there for the children to do (not just look at, but do) that I can’t even begin to list it all.  We spent our time in The Garden (aimed at toddlers) and The Launchpad (aimed at older children but still loads for toddlers to do).  In The Launchpad they have a thermal imaging camera which the girl was really fascinated by.

85/365 – Blue

The girl was wearing a blue dress and blue tights today. She has the most incredible blue eyes (as does the boy). I wanted to take a picture of her just standing not doing much, but really capture her eyes for a lovely “blue” picture.

She’s getting really good at posing for photos for me and stood still while I took a few.  I asked her to open her eyes a bit wider as I wasn’t really getting the intense colour of them showing in the photographs.  I have to post two pictures today because really I couldn’t decide which was the better picture.  I’ll leave it to you to decide.

This one?

Or this one?

I’m thinking of printing them and putting them on the wall for when I’m having a blue day.  Feel free to do the same!

84/365 – Romeo & Juliet

Or “Lavender and The Girl” as our new adaptation is called.

I think the camera shake (caused by me trying to sneak up on her in poor lighting so as not to disturb her) adds to the slightly scary pose she’s adopted. Quite why she chose to play dead pretend to have a sleep in a box I don’t know.

83/365 – Butterfly

I bought a butterfly steamer from the shops today.  The girl has never seen one before and was eager to tell the husband all about it.  The conversation went (word for word) as follows:

The Girl – “Daddy, look, a butterfly steamer.”
The husband – “Really?”
TG – “Yes.”
TH – “Do you put butterflies in it?”
TG – “Yes”
TH – “And do you steam them?.”
TG (after some deliberation) – “Yes.”
Me – *sigh*

Here is the girl in demonstration mode:

I’d just like to say that we in no way condone the harming of butterflies or, indeed, any small creatures in this house.  Except for wasps.  And mice.  And ants.  But no other ones.  Honest.

82/365 – Story Time

My kids love stories – anyone who is prepared to read to them will always be popular in this house.  Yesterday Aunty D and Uncle P both did story duty and much appreciated it was too (and lovely to see them).
