We had a bit of a day of it today with both children trying to break themselves. The boy was sitting in a booster seat attached to a chair when he decided to push himself away from the table. The end result being, of course, that all he actually achieved was to tip the chair backwards and whack his head on the floor. As I was picking him up I heard a thud and the girl started crying. I wasn’t watching so I don’t know exactly what happened but I’d say that when she fell off her chair (sigh) she whacked her head on the corner of the wall on the way down. I didn’t think it was too bad until I picked her up (after handing the still sobbing boy over to his daddy) and saw the blood dripping from her head. We headed over to A&E where we saw a triage nurse and then got sent to a Minor Injuries Unit (nearer to us and less time before we saw a doctor – thank you A&E nurse for the top tip). She’s fine, no hair wash for a couple of days but otherwise fine. Scared the living bloody daylights out of me though!

Ouch! Poor wee things! We had our first proper head-crack a week last friday with Zack, luckily it wasn’t bleeding, just a rather large egg on the side of his head. I know it’s awful but I didn’t take him to A&E as we couldn’t really afford the travel there n back, so I just kept my eye on him for a while. >_<
yeeouch!! I hope you have had a large glass of something to soothe frayed nerves!! Head wounds bleed more profusely than other bits of the body due to increased blood vessels etc – and to scare parents more easily i am sure ;0) Hope the smalls are ok now – let em sit on the floor to eat if chairs stress you for a bit….

Blood is the WORST thing ever. Always scares me, but you’ve got to keep it together for their sakes.
