I have to admit that I’ve dithered royally about posting this picture. I’m not looking my best.
For two days my pride has won out, but today I changed my mind. The incident leading upto the photo has completely dominated my last couple of days, so it feels only fair to share it with you. From how I feel to how I look, that one quick trip on a concrete patio* has definitely altered me, and not for the better. Good thing it’s only temporary.
I’m hoping that I’ll be back to normal soon though. My nose is bloody killing me and my teeth have started to ache (now that all the other throbbing has settled down).
Also, I’m not sure how much longer I can walk around looking like this. There are only so many supposedly furtive stares that I can put up with**.
*yes, there was alcohol involved, no it wasn’t enough to warrant this level of damage nor did it dull the pain so in my mind it doesn’t count.
** I much prefer children to adults. Children come up to you, ask you what you’ve done and when you’ve told them they shrug and wonder off, totally uninterested now that they know how mundane it is. Adults, with the exception of a few, stare when they think you’re not looking and speculate.

Oh you poor soul
That’s such a nasty injury.
ouch! still lovely though.
Oh no, poor you. that must have been some bloody fall. when i saw the picture as a thumbnail i thought the children had been decorating you with choc ice-cream. ouch.

Bloody hell Barbara! At least nothing’s permanent, when my face had a fight with my Mum’s monoblocking a couple of years ago I chipped my front tooth – very permanently (unlike the several fillings it’s had since!). I dunno – ONE lousy Cosmopolitan…..
Oh my! You poor thing. Hope you start to heal soon xx
ah, poor you, I so felt for you when I saw you this morning as it looks so painful! very brave of you to face the outside world and don’t worry, there will always be the stupid ones who just stare when they think one doesn’t look….I rather have children’s honesty to ask than stupid adults
. hope the pain will ease off very soon!! xx
Oh you poor thing, that really must of been quite a spectacular fall, I do hope you are feeling better and the painkillers kicking in. Why is it always the face that takes the brunt!! how bad are your knees I wonder? Sending a big hug xxxx
OWW!
oh no – hands in front of eyes – bless you, you poor thing. that looks like it smarts. Chocolate – quick!
That must’ve been quite the fall. **sending healing thoughts**
Ouch, that looks very sore. Sending some healing vibes your way. x
Good grief, woman, you should have just dropped the glass and saved yourself! Ow x
Oh god Barbara! You poor thing! *hugs*
I must get your address at some point btw… xx
Oh, dear! I hope the ache subsides soon. I’m glad you’re putting a brave face on things, har har.
Ouch. F@#king hell woman. How on Earth did I miss this? Hope you are ok.
Holy shit.
