This is what we were upto while the girl was kidnapping the big camera.
I think it’s rather lovely that she can help us capture moments like this.

She’s taken a bit of a shine to the big Sony.
I prefer to have it attached to something sturdy until she’s a bit bigger and stronger.
Yay for bendy tripods.

Today was our yearly “gather in people we love from far and wide” bar-b-que. Not everyone could come so it was a quiter day than usual but still very good fun.
The boy and girl helped me make the potato salad for today.
The boy transferred the cooked potatoes from the steamer (when they’d cooled down) to the serving dish. I made him do it one potato at a time so it would take him longer.
The girl mixed the greek yoghurt, mayonnaise, wholegrain mustard and lemon juice for the dressing.
They both licked the dressing bowl with relish (as ’twere) but refused to eat the potato salad. How on earth does that work?

They’ve been learning about pirates for the last two weeks at school.
She had to make a pirate ship to take in.
She was most upset that we didn’t think to put a plank on it.
I was pleased that she was excited about dressing up as something that wasn’t stereotypically girly. She makes a pretty cool pirate.

“Mummy?”
“Yes, the boy”
“Today I am a baby snail”
Not much more to be said really, other than thank you to Ikea for their oh so versatile rockers.

Granny F very kindly sent a new pinny for the girl. She loved it on sight and asked for pictures. I asked her to hold out the bottom so I could see the print and she automatically dropped into a curtsey.
Why did I bother buying her loads of cars when she was little?

I’ve been struggling with the blog. I’m over-committed on lots of fronts and am finding it hard to pick up the camera.
But, and it’s a big but, sometimes when I’m looking back at the blog and I see a shot of one of my two which I know I’ve hastily snapped at the last minute, it’s somehow better than something I’ve set up or posed them for.
Oh, and I’m loving these ABC fridge magnets.

Such a shame he had to give it to another little boy as a birthday present. He was rather in love with it.
