Wrongly or rightly, I don’t pay much attention to the cost of things that I either never, or very rarely, buy in the supermarket.
Honey is one of the things that comes into the latter category. I buy maybe one jar a year. The only thing it really gets used for in this house is “medicine” for the kids for when they have (or claim to have) a sore throat.
I assumed that, based on the cost of a 340g jar of jam, a similar sized jar of honey would be somewhere in the region of £1.50/£2. I had one eyebrow raised on seeing that a jar of organic honey would cost £2.89 but when I saw the jar next to it

I was speechless.
I know manuka honey has gained fame in recent years because of its anti-bacterial powers, but really? It’s that good?
