Burnt Offerings

I am not referring to her cookery skills, which are absolutely fine, but rather to her arm which she accidentally rested against the saucepan.  She won’t be doing that again in a hurry.  Fortunately it wasn’t too bad – there were no marks on her skin after we’d run it in cold water (although she did complain that I’d done it for too long).

We were making “butterscotch” from the Roald Dahl’s Completely Revolting Recipes Book.  It turns out that it wasn’t actual butterscotch but a very sweet milky drink.  She was very proud of her achievement (she did everything herself with me watching and trying very hard not to take over) and, even better, she liked what she’d made.
