279/365 – Coconuts

Things I don’t expect to happen when I’m demonstrating to a child at school how you would break into a coconut, using a pencil (obviously not something you’d break into a coconut with in real life), include the pencil actually going through one of the circles at the end of the coconut.

Context – I was reading Lima’s Red Hot Chilli with some EAL children.  I like to take in examples of the food in the book as it makes it much easier for the children to understand, for example, adjectives like hard, hairy, rough, heavy (in the case of the coconut).  Today I got to explain liquids and solids too – bonus!
